EARLSDON SHOW 2017

The 2017 show took place on Saturday Sept 2nd 2017 at St Barbara’s Church Hall.

The Organisers – Earlsdon, Lakeview, Beechwood and Highland Road allotment societies, as well as the Earlsdon Gardening Club – were delighted to see an increase in exhibitor numbers across the 81 different classes. Visitors were welcomed into the hall after judging had finished to admire the entries, applaud the winners at the prize-giving and participate in the auction.

This year’s prize-giving was certainly different. Five-year old Barney James Hannah stepped in to hand out the prizes with great aplomb when the Lord Mayor was detained at an earlier engagement.

Club member Molly Whorlow accumulated the most points this year and walked away with both the Banksian medal and the Sondra Halliday Rosebowl.

This year saw the introduction of a new class – to bake a Madeira cake using a specified recipe – which was won by gardening club member Diane Jones. The challenge was conceived and sponsored by Jill White who is already planning for next year’s recipe!
